Chili-event Bert De Clerck
Op maandag 3 juni vond het event “Chili and its opportunities in a changing World” plaats, georganiseerd door de heer Bert De Clerck, ere-consul van Chili voor de provincie West-Vlaanderen. De gouverneur sprak de aanwezigen toe over de samenwerking tussen West-Vlaanderen en Chili: “Today, Europe is largely turning to partners such as Chile for the implementation of its ambition in the Green Deal and the Energy transition. In the context of the large-scale development of the hydrogen industry in the southernmost region in Chile, the ambition and need of scientific knowledge to steer this process towards sustainability, is both immense and challenging. Next to the economic and trade related exchanges this is already generating, there is great appetite to set up a focused & small-scale academic cooperation with the local university of Magallanes UMAG: he hydrogen industry, ports and logistics, offshore energy, and marine research and innovation, are some of the topics UMAG is seeking international cooperation on. Flanders is well positioned to respond to this invitation. As a follow-up to these two successful recent missions, Flanders government is currently exploring appropriate mechanisms to invite a small delegation of UMAG to visit the diverse and excellent research community in Flanders, including VLIZ and the Blue Cluster”.
